Kirin Chinese and Japanese Cuisine (NSLS)

Kirin specializes in both mediocre Chinese and Japanese food. Amazing!

As I generally try not to eat the riskier cuisine from restaurants that have a duel nationality disorder I have yet to try the sushi. However, my good Japanese friend says "that it's not quite like my Mom's". The Chinese dishes are the usual dark brown sauce over protein of your choice. Overall, not bad but not great either.

Eating at the Machine

The National Synchrotron Light Source is well known to foodies and synchrotron jocks from around the world as a destination for fine dining. The food choices abound at the synchrotron itself. If you're looking for a delicious snack, you can always hit up the fabulous snack machine, which contains such delicacies as the Sweet 'n' Salty mix, and, of course, the snack machine classic, Dipsy Doodles.


For a more adventuresome meal, I prefer the delectable fresh sandwiches available in the main lobby of the NSLS. One has many choices at this machine; however, the chicken roll is an American original that, coupled with its whimsical plating, can provide endless hours of entertainment.
Of course, being tempted by the chicken roll can't stop Young Buck from contemplating the Hormel Chili.

Yet another option in the bounty of dining choices at the NSLS is to bring your own food. Remember to take care to always keep your food in a plastic grocery store bag, or it may get lost.
